Week 7: Servin in Sutherlin

Image
Hey everyone! The weeks are starting to feel so short that I literally can't remember half the things I did but thats ok, I'm glad things are moving fast.  This week was my first zone conference which was super fun! I love hanging out with all the elders because when you live with 3 other girls....you need a break lol. Anyways we had a great time and I got to see our President and meet his wife in person which was cool. We went to Cooper Creek after conference and I filmed my story for the stake page so that should be coming out in a few weeks do keep your eyes peeled. It was super funny because we weren't able to wash out car the day before ZC so me and Sister Nuttall got up bright and early, got ready, and headed to the car wash. We didn't want to ruin our hair so we wore some handy shower caps to protect from the Oregon frizz that's inevitable.  I also had my first exchange this week which was a blast. I brought Sister Fawson, one of our sweet STLs back to Suth...

Week 6: Servin in Sutherlin

Hey guys! This week flew by, which is super nice! It was a typical covid missionary week with a lot of service, some member lessons over video, and creepy guys Facebook messaging us. You know the vibes. Sister and Nuttall and I are straight beasts at raking leaves so don't be shocked if I come home absolutely ripped lol One of the coolest things we did was we went to go serve Laurie who is a lady in our ward. She called us saying she needed help cleaning up her property so that they could sell it. Let me tell you, when Sister Nuttall and I got there our jaws were on the floor. They had so much scrap metal, wood, toys, trash, and animals just everywhere. We looked at each other like how are we going to do this but about an hour later 4 elders and the zone leaders showed up and we were able to get so much done for her which was awesome since her husband is a trucker and isn't home a lot to help. You could just see the weight come off her shoulders which was so cool.  Friday wa...

Week 5: Servin in Sutherlin

Hey everyone! This was a good week! I felt like I was pretty busy and it went by super fast. With Oregon being in a freeze, we can't go into houses of people over 60 or under 2 and we can't exceed 6 people in a house. It has made teaching a little rough but most of the time we video chat our lessons on Messenger. Technology is such a blessing during covid because I don't even want to think about what I would be doing right now without it.  My first Thanksgiving without family was a little strange but we had an amazing ward member bring us dinner and it was delicious! I was so grateful that they took the time to do that for us so we could have a good meal because I was not about to cook a Thanksgiving feast. Thursday morning we met up with our Sister Training Leaders and we walked around Cooper Creek which is here in Sutherlin. It was so beautiful and peaceful...until some dude on a kayak came floating by blasting all kinds of music but I did not mind one bit because Rehab...

Week 4: Greenie in Eugenie

Image
Hey everyone!!! It has been quite the week! I finished the online MTC on Tuesday and I got to Eugene on Wednesday. For my first transfer I am in Sutherlin, Oregon which is about an hour from Eugene and right outside Roseburg. Its pretty small and only has 3 stoplights so its quite the adjustment from Las Vegas lol. The nice thing though is that there are Dutch Bros EVERYWHERE in oregon.  I've decided I'm going to be as honest as I can on these emails and with that being said.... the first two days I cried and cried and cried haha. I was so embarrassed because I am not an emotional person at all but I just could not help it. I was so overwhelmed and reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I asked the Zone Leaders for a blessing on Thursday and I am proud to announce that I have not cried since.   I am in a quad and my companion is Sister Nuttall. She is so sweet! She's a farm girl from Fairview, Utah. She has been in Sutherlin her whole mission so she is an expert on t...
