Week 5: Servin in Sutherlin

 Hey everyone!

This was a good week! I felt like I was pretty busy and it went by super fast. With Oregon being in a freeze, we can't go into houses of people over 60 or under 2 and we can't exceed 6 people in a house. It has made teaching a little rough but most of the time we video chat our lessons on Messenger. Technology is such a blessing during covid because I don't even want to think about what I would be doing right now without it.
My first Thanksgiving without family was a little strange but we had an amazing ward member bring us dinner and it was delicious! I was so grateful that they took the time to do that for us so we could have a good meal because I was not about to cook a Thanksgiving feast. Thursday morning we met up with our Sister Training Leaders and we walked around Cooper Creek which is here in Sutherlin. It was so beautiful and peaceful...until some dude on a kayak came floating by blasting all kinds of music but I did not mind one bit because Rehab by Amy Winehouse is never a bad pick lol.

Sutherlin is pretty small so we try to serve whenever we can since its our primary way of finding and talking to people. Oregon has a lot of leaves and weeds which is great because it means a lot of people can use our help. We have done yard work for members and non members and it is so fulfilling to see how much they appreciate it. Its also nice because it gets us a chance to get out of the apartment. On Friday we pulled some weeds at the Mentes house. They are a family in our ward and I had such a great time with them. They are such an awesome family and I hope we go back soon because they have a goldendoodle named Buddy that helped me not miss my doodles back at home so much haha. They also had a ton of chickens so I'm committed to catching one next time too.

Saturday marked a month since I began my mission and it went by really fast so I am super confident that the next 17 months are going to fly by. We celebrated with some blizzards which is always a good pick. I am hoping that the freeze and restrictions end soon so I can teach some more people. Its hard to feel accomplished and productive when you're trying to find people on Facebook and are stuck on a couch all day. Im just trying to stay positive and remind myself that I am doing the Lords work and that if I am obedient and faithful, he will help me find people to teach. I miss and love everyone a ton and can't wait to update you next week!

Love,
Sister Crouch
