Week 4: Greenie in Eugenie

 Hey everyone!!!

It has been quite the week! I finished the online MTC on Tuesday and I got to Eugene on Wednesday. For my first transfer I am in Sutherlin, Oregon which is about an hour from Eugene and right outside Roseburg. Its pretty small and only has 3 stoplights so its quite the adjustment from Las Vegas lol. The nice thing though is that there are Dutch Bros EVERYWHERE in oregon.

I've decided I'm going to be as honest as I can on these emails and with that being said.... the first two days I cried and cried and cried haha. I was so embarrassed because I am not an emotional person at all but I just could not help it. I was so overwhelmed and reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I asked the Zone Leaders for a blessing on Thursday and I am proud to announce that I have not cried since.

I am in a quad and my companion is Sister Nuttall. She is so sweet! She's a farm girl from Fairview, Utah. She has been in Sutherlin her whole mission so she is an expert on the area. The other companionship is Sister Parslow and Sister Kerner. We are all cramped in a small apartment so it can get a little tight sometimes but it honestly just feels like a big sleepover each night.

Oregon is in a freeze right now so it makes teaching a bit tricky. We can only have 6 people in a house so we try to eat and teach outside or video call with members when we can. Im hoping it ends soon so I can meet more people in the ward. Sutherlin is cute but its kind of strange seeing plows everywhere and chickens all over peoples yards.

Today was for sure the busiest day for us. I had a Drs appointment so we were able to go up to Eugene and do some shopping and hit up Voodoo donuts. I had only seen bits and pieces of the city when I first got here so it was super fun to explore a bit. I am really loving Oregon! It is genuinely so pretty up here. I absolutely love all the trees, especially when there's fog. It it just so beautiful and I actually don't mind the rain at all but my hair on the other hand does not like all the humidity. I feel like Hagrid from Harry Potter most days.

One of the biggest highlights of the week was being able to hear from President Nelson. I loved his message so much and his #givethanks challenge is so amazing. I love being able to go on Facebook and see everyone's posts. It's never a bad thing to practice gratitude and when the prophet tells you to, you just do it!

I miss everyone already but I know that this is where I need to be. I'll update you guys some more next week and hopefully I'll get better at this email thing soon! I love you guys lots and hope you have great Thanksgiving!!!

Love,
Sister Crouch
